Job Summary:
The Division of Hematology,
Medical Oncology and Palliative Care seeks a physician scientist, MD
or MD/PhD, in Health Services research to join our team. We seek
candidates for this position in sub-specialties such as Central
Nervous System, genitourinary or gastrointestinal tumors or sarcomas.
The physician scientist will be expected to engage in active
collaborative research and build clinical and/or translational
research in the division and obtain/maintain independent extramural
funding.

Duties include direct patient care, including
ambulatory, inpatient and consult service; (30%)
* Duties also
include outreach service at approved UW Health locations, as well as
inpatient call coverage.
* Includes protected time, (70%) to
develop a research program or teaching program and to engage in
scholarly activities.
* Teaching medical students, residents, and
fellows within the context of your clinical practice
* Proactively
supporting efforts to improve diversity in clinical trial
participants
The successful candidate will participate in
administrative and committee work to support the clinical and
scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public
Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a
collegial relationship with other faculty members.
Clinical
research is conducted in the UWCCC by 18 multi-disciplinary Disease
Oriented Teams and is supported by the UWCCC Clinical Research Central
Office on the main campus. Over 170 UWCCC investigators regularly
enroll patients to therapeutic intervention trials at our UWCCC
clinical sites. We are a member of the NCCN, ECOG- ACRIN, Alliance,
BigTen Cancer Research Consortium, Wisconsin Oncology Network (WON)
and Wisconsin Association of Hematology and Oncology
(WAHO).
The Division of Hematology/Medical Oncology &
Palliative Care is part of the Department of Medicine and the NCI-
designated UW Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Division is
active in all phases of cancer research, from prevention, screening,
cancer therapy, development and evaluation, survivorship and
palliative care. Faculty and staff of the Department of Medicine value

Qualifications:
Experience in health services, clinical and/or
translational research, with a track record of successful publications
in peer reviewed journals, strong written and verbal communication
skills, commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, evidence of
excellence in teaching and current or high potential to obtain
extramural funding. Through these efforts, the ability to enhance
national recognition for our division and the University of Wisconsin
Carbone Cancer Center.
For appointment at Associate Professor,
candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as
outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for
promotion or appointment to Associate Professor.
License/Certification:

Eligible or Board Certified by the American Board of Internal
Medicine.
Must have completed an accredited fellowship training
program in Medical Oncology and/or Hematology.
Must be eligible
for a Wisconsin medical license.

compensation targets AAMC benchmarks by rank.
This position has
been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable
populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an
initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the
Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
The department
