The Volunteer’s Role

Cuso International is seeking a dedicated individual who will be a key advisor in the promotion and marketing strategy of CBC Hotels services as well as in the communication of its corporate social responsibility actions and in the integration of the different organizational levels involved (from the CBC organization, to the rural tourism agency, to the communities) to achieve a fruitful tripartite collaboration.

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Generate strategies, routes and internet channels that contribute to the promotion, sales and payments by virtual means of the services of the social enterprise CBC Hotels: accommodation reservations, rural tourism trips, strengthening the reservation line of CBC Hotels.
  • Maintain the CBC Hotels website and social networks up to date.
  • To help strengthen the link between the CBC and the rural communities.
  • Train rural tourism service providers in Responsible Tourism and Rural Community Tourism.
  • Collaborate and contribute with other volunteers and staff in their workshops and field visits.
  • Other tasks that may be entrusted to him/her due to the needs of the office.
  • Essential Requirements:

  • University degree in Tourism, Economics, International Development, Sustainable Community Development and/or related field.
  • Essential Background:

  • Experience in promotion, digital marketing, hotel and travel reservations.
  • Affinity for Quechua culture and the community Rural tourism
  • Ability to adapt to different contexts and environments (visits to indigenous communities).
  • Interest and sensitivity to interact with indigenous populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.

SHARE aims to improve the economic and/or social well-being of the poorest, most marginalized and vulnerable people, particularly women and girls, in developing countries, to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals. In addition to increasing the engagement of Canadians in international development and key global issues, this project will aim to increase the performance of country partners to deliver more inclusive, innovative and environmentally sustainable development initiatives that advance gender equality, in support of the action areas of Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy.

    Cuso International's terms and conditions allow you to lead a modest and healthy lifestyle similar to local living standards. This support package will cover basic living expenses for one volunteer and is not intended to cover home-based expenses (eg. loans, support payments, etc.) or luxury items such as imported items in placement or international personal travel.

  • Modest monthly living allowance
  • Accommodation while in placement
  • Medical Health Insurance (including the cost of required vaccinations and antimalarial medication)
  • Round-trip airfare and visa/work permit costs
  • Pre-placement training, In-Country Orientation (ICO) and Reintegration Debriefing
  • Support while in placement through Cuso International's Country Program Office (CPO) and local partners throughout your placement
  • Access to Employee Assistance Program (EAP) while in placement and upon return

    We commit to helping you prepare as best as possible for your placement. You will have a Volunteering Mobilization Advisor (VMA) to support you through the process and will participate in pre-placement training as part of your preparation. You will also have access to self-directed briefing documents, online training, and external resources through the volunteer portal. This training is designed to maximize your understanding of your placement and culture, help you identify and plan your learning, and help you stay safe and healthy during your placement.

    The Volunteer’s Role

    Cuso International in Peru is seeking an individual to support our partner organization, Instituto de Defensa Legal (IDL), in promoting and raising awareness of their Constitutional Litigation Area (ALC) activities and legal cases both nationally and internationally.

    As a volunteer, you will work closely with the team to share updates on the various activities they undertake, such as court judgments, legal hearings, reports, articles, briefs, and statements, depending on their significance.

    You will collaborate with IDL's communications department to publicize activities through official media outlets and engage with alternative and mainstream media in Peru, as well as foreign press correspondents in the country. If needed, you may be responsible for drafting press releases, capturing photographs and videos, writing articles, and sharing them through the ALC's social media channels and other platforms.

    In addition, you will play a key role in translating press releases, articles, and other communication materials into English for international media dissemination. These materials will be distributed among activist networks, NGOs, solidarity groups, and IDL allies.

    Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to broadcast press conferences, forums, and other events via IDL's Facebook Live or other virtual broadcasting channels. You will actively participate in all ALC meetings and coordinate with team members based in Lima and other provinces.

    This position is based in Lima, the vibrant capital city of Peru. You will join a dedicated, multidisciplinary team focused on monitoring public policies related to crucial issues in the country, such as human rights, justice, security, environment, and indigenous peoples.

    As a volunteer, you will:

    The Volunteer’s Role

    As the Machinist Engineer Advisor, you will be required to apply your demonstrated and extensive organizational skills in developing, integrating, coordinating, aligning a strategic plan that uses time and resources effectively and efficiently, in support of the SHARE project in Iringa, Tanzania.

    The SHARE project supports SMEs to overcome existing barriers to grow their businesses in food production, natural resource products, and other agribusiness value chains. SHARE pays particular attention to the challenges which women and youth-led SMEs face by matching them with skilled volunteers with management and entrepreneurial experience to provide guidance. The project also helps start ups through the incubation program and the use of shared technology to start business and provides financial mentorship to support SMEs that are ready to expand their operations.

    Funded by Global Affairs Canada, SHARE project is delivered in 3-6 strategic regions of Tanzania – Mtwara, Iringa, and Mwanza. Shinyanga, Morogoro and Dar es Salaam through the supervision of a field manager and full project team based in Dar es Salaam. SHARE implements its deliverables through the collaboration with 2 NGO organizations, the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA) and the Tanzania Women Chamber of Commerce (TWCC), as well as 2 government bodies, Small Industries Development Organization (SIDO) and Vocational Education Training Authority (VETA) one commercial financial consulting company (EMMAC) plus one agribusiness cooperative the Sokoine University Graduate Entrepreneurs Cooperative (SUGECO). International volunteers with various skill sets play an essential role in collaborating with the SHARE project team to address the challenges SMEs face.

    The aim of the Organizational Development Advisor is to ensure the delivery of high-quality programs by supporting the development and execution of project plans, monitoring progress, and conducting detail review of implementation and spending. Develop and maintain an evaluation method to assess program strengths and identify areas for improvement. Lead the analysis and documentation of best practices, lessons learned and challenges in the implementation of Business Development Services (BDS) through SIDO T-LED Hubs. Write donor reports by coordinating inputs from multiple sources and facilitating the internal review process to ensure timely submission.

    Also, you will be required to apply your organizational skills to assist with strategic planning to guide the organization from the current state to the desired sustainability state. This requires being adept at managing multiple and prioritizing the demands of a diverse range of partners and stakeholders. By working with international volunteers, there will be opportunities to work collaboratively with other members of the team, using your strong intra/interpersonal skills to provide high level support and advice to managers and staff.

    As a volunteer, you will:

  • Study sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Measure, mark, and describe dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining as necessary.
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines as necessary to machine parts as required.
    Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media according to established guidelines and procedures.
  • Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
    Verify conformance of the finished workpiece to specifications, using measuring and inspection tools as necessary.
    Set up and operate the machine on a trial run to verify the accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on machines as required.
    Confer with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
    Maintain a clean and organized work area and maintain all equipment, to a like-new appearance, according to maintenance plans and established procedures.

    Purpose of Position:
    To lead and optimize daily sortation and dispatch operations by managing staff, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries, resolving service issues, and supporting continuous improvement and compliance across logistics functions.
    Key Accountabilities:
     
  • Oversee daily sortation and dispatch functions to ensure accurate, on-time shipment processing and final-mile delivery execution.
  • Provide leadership to sortation associates and delivery drivers, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
  • Conduct routine safety audits and ensure strict adherence to company policies, OSHA regulations, and transportation compliance standards.
  • Monitor labor utilization and performance metrics to achieve and exceed Parcels Per Hour (PPH), Cost Per Piece (CPP) and other key operational KPIs.
  • Analyze Leader Standard Worksheets (LSW) data to measure labor efficiency, identify opportunities for productivity improvements, and optimize workforce allocation.
  • Perform detailed sort analysis to identify bottlenecks, optimize sort flow, and improve overall throughput efficiency.
  • Optimize delivery route planning based on real-time volume data, fleet capacity, and historical performance trends.
  • Manage delivery tracking, proactively resolve service disruptions, and handle escalated customer inquiries with professionalism and urgency.
  • Oversee the resolution of return shipments, cancellations, and delivery exceptions to minimize service failures and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Lead operational onboarding for new clients, ensuring alignment on service-level agreements and readiness for go-live operations.
  • Take ownership of new customer launches, ensuring shipments are accurately routed and delivered to the correct destinations.
  • Supervise delivery drivers to verify that all deliveries are made to the correct locations in compliance with customer requirements.
  • Generate daily terminal scanning exception reports to ensure Return Delivery Logs (RDLs) are completed as requested by management.
  • Collaborate with terminal managers across locations to coordinate multi-terminal onboarding, resolve cross-functional issues, and drive efficiency improvements.
  • Ensure full compliance with internal protocols and external regulatory requirements across all dispatch and delivery activities.
  • Prepare and submit comprehensive daily operational reports (dispatch logs, vehicle maintenance/wash records, shift summaries) to senior leadership.
  • Work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to streamline workflows, implement process improvements, and support strategic initiatives led by terminal leadership.

  • Other Duties
  • Authorize and approve forklift and walkie operator licenses by administering and evaluating both practical and written examinations to ensure operator competency and safety compliance.

  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree, diploma, or certificate in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related trade, with 2+ years of operations supervision experience.
  • Strong Understanding of Canadian Postal Code (FSA) System to be able to manually process shipments from Origin-Destination Combinations during power or system outages.
  • Forklift Licensed and Experience a requirement.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in logistics software and reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, compliance standards, and ability to manage cross-functional teams effectively.
  • Required Skills:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)

  • Supervision : This position reports to the Terminal Manager. This position functions under the guidance of the Terminal Manager, the immediate Manager/supervisor periodically checks assignments for progress. While the role does hold formal authority over sortation team, it involves responsibility for managing and overseeing several sortation reports, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the sorting process.

    The Volunteer’s Role

    Cuso International in Peru is seeking an individual to support our partner organization, Instituto de Defensa Legal (IDL), in promoting and raising awareness of their Constitutional Litigation Area (ALC) activities and legal cases both nationally and internationally.

    As a volunteer, you will work closely with the team to share updates on the various activities they undertake, such as court judgments, legal hearings, reports, articles, briefs, and statements, depending on their significance.

    You will collaborate with IDL's communications department to publicize activities through official media outlets and engage with alternative and mainstream media in Peru, as well as foreign press correspondents in the country. If needed, you may be responsible for drafting press releases, capturing photographs and videos, writing articles, and sharing them through the ALC's social media channels and other platforms.

    In addition, you will play a key role in translating press releases, articles, and other communication materials into English for international media dissemination. These materials will be distributed among activist networks, NGOs, solidarity groups, and IDL allies.

    Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to broadcast press conferences, forums, and other events via IDL's Facebook Live or other virtual broadcasting channels. You will actively participate in all ALC meetings and coordinate with team members based in Lima and other provinces.

    This position is based in Lima, the vibrant capital city of Peru. You will join a dedicated, multidisciplinary team focused on monitoring public policies related to crucial issues in the country, such as human rights, justice, security, environment, and indigenous peoples.

    As a volunteer, you will:

  • Support the work of the constitutional litigation area (ALC) team members.
  • Evaluate the relevance and importance of each activity and coordinate with the responsible individuals for their distribution.
  • Prepare press releases and articles about these activities for local, regional, national, and international broadcasting.
  • Coordinate with the IDL Communications Department to disseminate activities through the institution's official media channels.
  • Accompany ALC members during activities that occur in both Lima and the provinces.
  • Develop creative and innovative strategies for publishing activities on social networks, including both traditional and modern platforms.
  • Take ownership of ALC publications.
  • Establish connections with national press and foreign correspondents, including mainstream and alternative media outlets.
  • Create communication materials and manage webinars and other public activities, such as press conferences.
  • Essential Requirements:

  • Degree in journalism, communications or marketing with a minimum of 5 years experience.
  • Excellent Spanish language skills with fluency in writing and speaking.
  • Exceptional proficiency in both written and spoken English.
  • Essential Background:

  • Proven experience in journalism and NGO communications, including published articles, photos, videos, etc.
  • Knowledge of indigenous peoples, environmental pollution, and climate change issues.
  • Proficiency in basic graphic design software and social media skills.
  • Experience in photography and basic video production (filming and editing) for publication in various media outlets, alternative media, and social networks. It is crucial to submit a portfolio of recent work (within the past 2 years), including press releases, photos, videos, written articles, and social media publications.

The organization plays a crucial role in bringing about peace and solidifying democratic institutions within the country. IDL is a member of the National Coordinator of Human Rights (CNDDHH), and its areas of focus include legal defence, judicial reform, governance, citizen security, as well as indigenous and women's rights.

    Cuso International's terms and conditions allow you to lead a modest and healthy lifestyle similar to local living standards. This support package will cover basic living expenses for one volunteer and is not intended to cover home-based expenses (eg. loans, support payments, etc.) or luxury items such as imported items in placement or international personal travel.
