The Volunteer’s Role

As the Machinist Engineer Advisor, you will be required to apply your demonstrated and extensive organizational skills in developing, integrating, coordinating, aligning a strategic plan that uses time and resources effectively and efficiently, in support of the SHARE project in Iringa, Tanzania.

The SHARE project supports SMEs to overcome existing barriers to grow their businesses in food production, natural resource products, and other agribusiness value chains. SHARE pays particular attention to the challenges which women and youth-led SMEs face by matching them with skilled volunteers with management and entrepreneurial experience to provide guidance. The project also helps start ups through the incubation program and the use of shared technology to start business and provides financial mentorship to support SMEs that are ready to expand their operations.

Funded by Global Affairs Canada, SHARE project is delivered in 3-6 strategic regions of Tanzania – Mtwara, Iringa, and Mwanza. Shinyanga, Morogoro and Dar es Salaam through the supervision of a field manager and full project team based in Dar es Salaam. SHARE implements its deliverables through the collaboration with 2 NGO organizations, the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA) and the Tanzania Women Chamber of Commerce (TWCC), as well as 2 government bodies, Small Industries Development Organization (SIDO) and Vocational Education Training Authority (VETA) one commercial financial consulting company (EMMAC) plus one agribusiness cooperative the Sokoine University Graduate Entrepreneurs Cooperative (SUGECO). International volunteers with various skill sets play an essential role in collaborating with the SHARE project team to address the challenges SMEs face.

The aim of the Organizational Development Advisor is to ensure the delivery of high-quality programs by supporting the development and execution of project plans, monitoring progress, and conducting detail review of implementation and spending. Develop and maintain an evaluation method to assess program strengths and identify areas for improvement. Lead the analysis and documentation of best practices, lessons learned and challenges in the implementation of Business Development Services (BDS) through SIDO T-LED Hubs. Write donor reports by coordinating inputs from multiple sources and facilitating the internal review process to ensure timely submission.

Also, you will be required to apply your organizational skills to assist with strategic planning to guide the organization from the current state to the desired sustainability state. This requires being adept at managing multiple and prioritizing the demands of a diverse range of partners and stakeholders. By working with international volunteers, there will be opportunities to work collaboratively with other members of the team, using your strong intra/interpersonal skills to provide high level support and advice to managers and staff.

You will be well supported by the Iringa project partners, all eager to collaborate with you to improve the local growth of SMEs through your knowledge and input.

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Study sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Measure, mark, and describe dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining as necessary.
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines as necessary to machine parts as required.
    Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media according to established guidelines and procedures.
  • Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
    Verify conformance of the finished workpiece to specifications, using measuring and inspection tools as necessary.
    Set up and operate the machine on a trial run to verify the accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on machines as required.
    Confer with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
    Maintain a clean and organized work area and maintain all equipment, to a like-new appearance, according to maintenance plans and established procedures.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that you get along with customers, clients, coworkers and management
  • Continue to grow, learn knowledge, and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement.
  • Essential Requirements:

  • 3 – 8 years of work experience in CNC Lathe Machine, CNC Vertical Milling Machine
  • 4 – 10 years of work experience in CNC Plasma Cutter and must be able to fabricate different objects
  • Competent in CNC Lathe and Milling Machines highly needed
  • Facilitation and training skills; experience in development and delivering workshops
  • Program delivery experience at a managerial level
  • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite program
  • Competent in software such as AUTO CAD & SOLID WORKS
  • Experience in project management delivery

    Partner - Small Industries Development Organization

    In October 1973, the government-owned organization, SIDO, was established under the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Marketing in Tanzania. The primary objective was to promote the growth of the small industry sector in the country. SIDO's role included policy formulation, providing direct assistance to industries, and the establishment of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). The organization has been credited for several notable initiatives, including the creation of Industrial Estates, Technology Development Centers, and direct marketing efforts.

    The Volunteer’s Role

    Cuso International in Peru is seeking an individual to support our partner organization, Instituto de Defensa Legal (IDL), in promoting and raising awareness of their Constitutional Litigation Area (ALC) activities and legal cases both nationally and internationally.

    As a volunteer, you will work closely with the team to share updates on the various activities they undertake, such as court judgments, legal hearings, reports, articles, briefs, and statements, depending on their significance.

    You will collaborate with IDL's communications department to publicize activities through official media outlets and engage with alternative and mainstream media in Peru, as well as foreign press correspondents in the country. If needed, you may be responsible for drafting press releases, capturing photographs and videos, writing articles, and sharing them through the ALC's social media channels and other platforms.

    In addition, you will play a key role in translating press releases, articles, and other communication materials into English for international media dissemination. These materials will be distributed among activist networks, NGOs, solidarity groups, and IDL allies.

    Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to broadcast press conferences, forums, and other events via IDL's Facebook Live or other virtual broadcasting channels. You will actively participate in all ALC meetings and coordinate with team members based in Lima and other provinces.

    This position is based in Lima, the vibrant capital city of Peru. You will join a dedicated, multidisciplinary team focused on monitoring public policies related to crucial issues in the country, such as human rights, justice, security, environment, and indigenous peoples.

    As a volunteer, you will:

  • Support the work of the constitutional litigation area (ALC) team members.
  • Evaluate the relevance and importance of each activity and coordinate with the responsible individuals for their distribution.
  • Prepare press releases and articles about these activities for local, regional, national, and international broadcasting.
  • Coordinate with the IDL Communications Department to disseminate activities through the institution's official media channels.
  • Accompany ALC members during activities that occur in both Lima and the provinces.
  • Develop creative and innovative strategies for publishing activities on social networks, including both traditional and modern platforms.
  • Take ownership of ALC publications.
  • Establish connections with national press and foreign correspondents, including mainstream and alternative media outlets.
  • Create communication materials and manage webinars and other public activities, such as press conferences.
  • Essential Requirements:

  • Degree in journalism, communications or marketing with a minimum of 5 years experience.
  • Excellent Spanish language skills with fluency in writing and speaking.
  • Exceptional proficiency in both written and spoken English.
  • Essential Background:

  • Proven experience in journalism and NGO communications, including published articles, photos, videos, etc.
  • Knowledge of indigenous peoples, environmental pollution, and climate change issues.
  • Proficiency in basic graphic design software and social media skills.
  • Experience in photography and basic video production (filming and editing) for publication in various media outlets, alternative media, and social networks. It is crucial to submit a portfolio of recent work (within the past 2 years), including press releases, photos, videos, written articles, and social media publications.

With the current health challenges facing our offender population, there is a need to recruit more nurses into our organization.Nurses at CSC play an important role in providing quality care to approximately 15,000 offenders incarcerated in Canada's federal institutions, they work in accredited mental health facilities as well as in Health Services Centres. In their daily work, nurses in CSC contribute to prevention, care, treatment, and support of acute and chronic physical and mental health conditions of offenders. Their interventions are extremely valued as they assist in maintaining the safety of Canadians by helping to improve offender health and reintegration into the community. CSC nurses provide a wide range of clinical services that can be found in a community setting, while specializing in services that reflect the needs of the offender population. These include infectious disease prevention and control, opiate substitution therapy programs, suicide prevention, enhanced discharge planning, and mental health interventions to support offenders with mental health disorders. By applying on this posting, if you are the successful candidate, you agree to and will become an employee of Recovery Alberta.Description: Reporting directly to the Manager on the Clinical Business Initiatives team, the Provincial Initiatives Consultant (PIC) will provide leadership and support priority clinical quality improvement initiatives related to accreditation, policy, patient safety, and Connect Care, inclusive of all programs within Recovery Alberta. The incumbent will have a significant scope of influence via partnering, collaborating, and facilitating transformational change across the province. The PIC is a professional position supporting complex initiatives and projects within Recovery Alberta. They work with a high degree of independence and are responsible for leading, consulting, and organizing activities related to quality improvement initiatives. Via extensive knowledge of evidence informed health services planning and delivery, experience with senior management priorities, and understanding of stakeholder needs, this position develops high level strategies, reports and frameworks, and delineates plans that address operational needs and improve service quality at the provincial and geographical areas. The incumbent will demonstrate proven experience in project management and change management. They must possess strong critical thinking skills to appraise situations and determine the best plan of action for developing and recommending solutions and implementation strategies. Significant leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort in making decisions, communicating effectively by adapting to their audience and effectively facilitating difficult conversations are also required. The incumbent will need a robust understanding of the AMH clinical practice environment. Required Qualifications: A Master’s degree in a Health, Business or Social Science field.
    Registration with the appropriate regulatory college.

    Experience in the field of addiction and mental health.
