About the role Join the Enterprise Data Office (EDO), where we are working to make data an asset for solving challenges for CMHC in providing housing market stability, mortgage liquidity and support housing development and insights. As Senior Specialist, Data Risk Governance, you will be part of the leadership team bringing enterprise data services to life. You will lead the evolution of the organization’s data capabilities and provide expert advice on the data strategy practice and processes to ensure appropriate alignment with organizational objectives and provide IT operations support and advisory. The role is under the direction of the Senior Manager, Data & Information Governance & Compliance. What you’ll do: Lead the execution of ongoing monitoring, testing, evaluating and reporting on data risk, controls and guideline requirements to assess rigour and consistency in the application of data risk lens. Ensure appropriate risk awareness, identification, and monitoring by collaborating with the data community. Recommend and assist in implementing risk indicators and outcome targets to enhance business effectiveness and efficiency. Provide functional guidance, advice and expertise to peers and management. Oversee quality control of all data and reporting throughout the delivery life cycle by ensuring that risks are mitigated and that reliable, methodological, sound and timely data, indicators and analytical information are produced. Oversee the analysis of data risks, issues and opportunities within CMHC's risk appetite initiatives and inform leadership team of concerns. Present and communicate data analytics in an efficient and easily understandable way to various audiences, including management. What you should have: An undergraduate degree in a related field such as computer science, business, finance or commerce. A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience in IT risk, data governance, data management, risk management, IT audit. An equivalent combination of education and experience can be considered. Ability to analyze transformation solutions and support their implementation. Knowledge of Data Governance, the application of data quality, data management, business process management, and risk management surrounding the handling of data in an organization. Superior oral and written communication skills in English, including strong presentation skills and ability to persuade, influence, and/or negotiate with colleagues, clients and senior management. In-depth ability to write reports to convey information that is subject to interpretation. Ability to research issues, analyze problems, synthesize information and make recommendations. Knowledge of OSFI enterprise-wide model risk management standards. It would be great if you also had: Ability to transform data into engaging business narratives for stakeholders.
