Ongoing training and development are part of every job, providing constant growth and skill-building potential.Be a part of the team — our future is bright!To help achieve our business plans, Bruce Power currently has an opportunity for an Engineer/Engineering Trainee, in the Electrical Systems Engineering Section.This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.More than one (1) position may be available.Key Responsibilities:As a member of this technical team, the successful candidate will provide expertise in a specific technical area required to sustain performance of assets and resolve non-standard design and technical problems related to Electrical equipment(s) or system(s).Specific Accountabilities:Act as Responsible System Engineer or Component Engineer for assigned Station Electrical Power Distribution System/Component.Regularly monitor and review the performance of assigned system and components with a focus on predicting and preventing equipment failures.Complete System Health Reporting for assigned System(s) as required.Collaborate with Component Engineers, Design Engineers, Operations, Maintenance and Plant Health Committee to resolve equipment health threats or concerns.Develop and maintain an understanding of the assigned equipment through participation in industry users-groups and network with external knowledgeable contacts. Maintain strong relationships with vendors and industry, solicit support as required for component management.Review relevant industry Operating Experience and regulatory requirements and initiate actions as necessary. Act as a Bruce Power contact to EPRI, COG, etc. for the assigned system group.Focus on long-term equipment health and develop, optimize and maintain Technical Basis Assessment, Life Cycle Management Plan and determine Asset Life Projections and Options.Provide technical support to Operations and Maintenance, including but not limited to reviewing technical content of Operating and Maintenance manuals, engineering evaluation plan and/or troubleshooting plan technical verification, or provide support to the Technical Operability Evaluation process.Act as the Peer Group coordinator for the designated components and equipment. Organize, prepare the agenda and content, and lead peer group meetings where required.Independently manage workload to maintain high levels of quality and schedule adherence for assigned deliverables.Act as owners’ representation for the projects related to assigned system, where required.Attend, and represent department, as directed, on various internal and external technical committees.Assist Station Engineering to ensure systems are operating within the established design and licensing basis.Knowledge and Skills:A technical working knowledge in Electrical Power Distribution System, classification and Ontario Electrical Safety Code is considered an asset.Demonstrated thorough knowledge of electrical equipment; specifically, LV/MV Breakers in Electrical Distribution Systems and Batteries in DC Systems is considered an asset.Familiar with international standards such as IEC 61508, 61513 and 61226 is considered an asset.Previous experience with reliability engineering or asset management will be considered as an asset.Previous experience with CLASS 1 Power System and Breakers (LV/MV) will be considered an asset.Demonstrated ability to achieve task results consistent with requirements for safety, quality, quantity and resource allowance.Strong written and verbal communication skills, presentation skillsDemonstrated ability to interact positively with others by developing trust, mutual respect and Co-operative working relationships.Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and organize work to meet objectives.Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities, deadlines and heavy workloads.Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and be self-motivated.Proven ability to write technical documentation.Strong leadership skills and high degree of accountability and engagement.A history of demonstrating strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making capability.A high degree of initiative, self-motivation, flexibility, and the ability to work with minimal guidance in a team environment.Education and Experience:Engineer (Occupation Code )Completion of a 4-year University Engineering degree.An Ontario Professional Engineering designation is required (Engineering Trainee (Occupation Code )Completion of a 4-year University Engineering degree. Working toward obtaining certification from Professional Engineers OntarioA period of over 2 years and up to and including 4 years' experience is considered necessary.

Your new role

We are seeking a motivated individual to join our Product Engineering Team


Description of team: The Product Engineer role participates in every phase of the manufacturing cycle from quotation to delivery, interacting with all departments of the organization.

  • Coordinate with Sales & the customer to help define the scope of work to be performed within the current manufacturing phase of the project (process development, characterization, qualification, validation, and production).
  • Prepare technical quotations and proposals for build-to-print and turnkey mandates for microelectronic subassemblies, finished devices, and process development activities.
  • Review product documentation (Bill of materials, design and test specifications, quality and regulatory standards).
  • Assess feasibility; identify constraints, assumptions, exclusions, costs, and lead time.
  • Manage design activities of new and existing products.
  • Ensure compatibility between substrate, component, manufacturing material, manufacturing process, test methods, industry standards, environmental conditions, and customer constraints.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Educational level: Electrical Engineering – Microelectronics is an asset. (You can also look at Aerospace backgrounds, although they may be a bit more mechanically inclined, they are still worth looking at).
  • Member of the OIQ, or at least in the process of being a member of OIQ.
  • Leadership and managerial experience.
  • Great people skills for both internal communications and external with customers.
  • Microelectronics manufacturing,
  • Familiar with the following standards:
  • Intimate knowledge of Circuit Card Assembly and Printed Circuit Board Assembly manufacturing processes (solder printing, component pick and place, reflow, cleaning, thru-hole installation, etc.).
  • Manufacturing experience involving J-STD-001 Class 3 and Space Addendum Circuit Card Assemblies and Printed Circuit Board Assemblies.
  • Working in an ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and AS9100 manufacturing environment
