These are more than just words—they represent our Values: Care, Commitment, Community, and Confidence.Our Verify, Fraud & Financial Crime team is seeking a Road Investigator with property claims experience who is passionate about uncovering the truth and protecting our customers. As a key escalation point for questionable claims, policies, and suppliers, you will conduct both field and stationary investigations to determine the validity of suspicious activity.What you’ll do:Act as Case Lead for both field and desk-based investigationsConduct in-person and telephone interviews, gather and analyze facts, and manage case filesEstablish investigation strategies, define scope, and identify all relevant leadsCollect and document physical and electronic evidence in a defensible mannerAssist desk investigators with fieldwork as neededDetermine when investigations are ready for disposition and provide clear recommendationsPrepare for and participate in Decision Panel meetingsBuild defendable case briefs to support internal decisions or external prosecutionsLiaise with colleagues across Verify, Claims, Underwriting, and LegalEvaluate evidence sufficiency throughout the investigation lifecycleSupervise investigations conducted by external vendorsManage complex investigations involving multiple parties or investigatorsProvide technical expertise, coaching, and mentoring to other investigatorsAttend court as required and prepare Aviva witnesses for testimonyEnsure investigations are timely, thorough, and compliant with legal and regulatory standardsWhat you’ll bring:Minimum 6 years of experience in an investigative roleStrong technical knowledge of insurance lines of business, with a focus on property claims (including personal, commercial, and large/complex losses)Post-secondary education or equivalent work experienceCIP designation or working toward completionSolid understanding of claims and underwriting processesExcellent analytical, investigative, and decision-making skillsStrong communication, presentation, and customer service skills—diplomatic and empatheticAbility to make confident, objective decisions in high-risk or legally sensitive mattersComfortable working in ambiguous or challenging situationsWillingness to travel across Canada and work evenings/weekends as neededValid driver’s licenseProvincial or territorial insurance licensing (as required)Bilingualism (English & French) is an assetWhat you’ll get: Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
