What you will do Document claims file by accurately capturing and updating claims data/information in compliance with best practices for low to moderate exposure and complexity personal or commercial line claims.

Exercise judgment to determine policy verification and coverage determination by analyzing applicable coverage for claims and determining whether the loss falls within the coverage.
Work to have a timely resolution to claims by developing case strategy; developing a case evaluation; escalating issues as appropriate.
Establish timely reserves and perform ongoing review throughout claims cycle within authority limit by estimating and validating value of claims.
Assess damages by calculating applicable damages or range of damages allowed by law.
Negotiate settlement of claim by establishing appropriate negotiation strategy and utilizing available tools and resources within authority limits.
Meet quality standards by following best practices.
Ensure customer service by proactively communicating information; responding to inquiries; following customer protocols and may participating in customer marketing efforts.
Manage expenses by working within vendor approved networks and managing scope of work assigned to outside contractors. Departs from approved vendors with manager approval, where in the best interests of the insured.
Ensure legal compliance by following state and federal laws and regulations and internal control requirements.
Refer claim to subrogation and fraud teams by identifying potential subrogation and fraud.
Contribute to profitable growth by providing risk insight, information and trends to Business Unit or customer as needed.
Protect Zurich’s reputation by keeping claims information confidential.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, staying current with industry trends, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies. Job Qualifications - What you bring to the table Required: Bachelor’s Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Claims or Insurance area  OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in Claims or Insurance area  OR Completion of Zurich Claims Training Program and 3 or more years of experience in the Claims or Insurance area  OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Claims or Insurance area  AND Must obtain and maintain required adjuster license(s)
Knowledge of insurance regulations, markets and products
Microsoft Office experience  Preferred: Bilingual in English and French is an asset
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Solid time management, prioritization and multi-tasking skills
Experience collaborating in a team environment and building cross functional working relationships
Adept in identifying and explaining complex financial and/or actuarial concepts.
Ability to determine the scope and exposure for moderately complex claims
Demonstrates understanding of the reserving process for indemnity and expense in analyzing the potential exposure of moderately complex claims
Ability to develop and execute a negotiation strategy and plan for resolution
Ability to identify subtleties in customer/client and/or business partner interactions

Come join our team!What you’ll doSupport GCS Value Proposition every day and with every interaction by providing excellent customer and stakeholder communication on claim mattersProvide superior customer service to our clients and stakeholdersInvestigate, evaluate and settle Auto BI, Commercial General Liability Casualty and possibly some PD liability / E&O/ US claims with claimants or their representativesAbility to handle a varied pending, including files in both pre-litigation and litigation as well as the possibility of out-of-province claims.On litigation files, work in partnership with defence counsel to develop and implement strategies for bringing files to a timely and cost effective resolutionHigh level of comfort dealing directly with key clients and broker on all claim related issues and other assistance as requiredInterpret and confirm insurance coverage using background knowledge of relevant case law combined with a thorough understanding of policy wordingsEnsure file reserves are set on a timely and accurate basis, in line with company protocolsMaintain control over expenses through pro-active handling techniquesReview and analyse Third Party Adjuster other external reports to ensure proper disposition of claims with view to manage costs and provide exceptional customer service;Provide instructions to vendors and TPA’s to adjust claims;Ensure vendors and TPA’s adhere to company policies and procedures;Clearly document and summarize file activityUnderstand and adhere to Aviva’s claim procedures and guidelinesAbility to communicate and work well with other departments within AvivaWhat you’ll bringCIP or FCIP Industry designation preferredUniversity Degree or College Diploma or equivalent Casualty technical work experience7 + years previous claims experience;5 + years of experience in Commercial Claims; with a strong knowledge of Casualty/Personal LinesExposure to US claims/ E&O/ PD liability claims an assetClient interaction experienceTechnical competence in Commercial insuranceExcellent verbal and written communication skillsComputer proficiency; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, ClaimCenterSound decision making and problem solving skillsStand as an expert and provide in-depth advice to customers and other stakeholders for GCSUnderstand what matters to our customersThink critically and coordinate with all stakeholders to ensure you receive the best outcomes.You are hardworking and a self-motivated problem-solverWhat you’ll getCompetitive rewards package including base compensation, eligibility for annual bonus, retirement savings, share plan, health benefits, personal wellness, and volunteer opportunities.Our vacation package starts at 4 weeks + the opportunity to buy an extra week.Exceptional Career Development opportunities.We’ll support your professional development educationHybrid working modelAviva Canada is committed to providing accommodations for people with disabilities during all phases of the hiring process including the application process. Job Description What is the opportunity?The role is available in the following provinces: Quebec, Ontario, New-Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Alberta, Manitoba and Prince Edward Island.As a Bilingual Disability Claims Analyst you will adjudicate and manage disability claims in a team-oriented, multi-disciplinary, and digital environment. You will be responsible for ensuring claims are recertified and paid in accordance with policy and unit procedures, while delivering superior client service. You will be required to apply appropriate risk management strategies which impact the company’s financial results, reputation and regulatory risks, client relationships, and business retention.What will you do?Adjudicate claims by utilizing a multidisciplinary claim management model to ensure objective, fair and thorough claim adjudication, while complying with policy provisions, procedures and regulatory requirementsProvide the highest level of customer service and manage reputational riskManage a large caseload of disability claims, calculate benefit payments and implement claims management and return to work strategies, where warrantedProfessionally communicate approval or denial decisions to clientsGiven the very sensitive nature of the information gathered in the adjudication process, extreme care must be exercised in the handling of a claim in order to guard against any breach of confidentialityEffectively communicate and build rapport with team members, stakeholders and business partners using a variety of techniques and collaboration from initiation to closeWhat will you need to succeed?Must-havePost-secondary education, preferably in healthcare or related field, or related work experience Bilingualism (English and French) required, as you will regularly serve our clients and do business with RBC partners and/or employees across Canada with English and French speaking needs.High level of writing in French and EnglishStrong analytical, critical thinking and decision-making skills, with the ability to multitask and balance multiple goals and prioritiesExcellent customer service and telephone skills with the ability to communicate complex and difficult information with professionalism and empathy, including phone calls with client who may be emotional or have mental health conditionsAbility to work independently in a structured environment, with proven time management, organizational and problem-solving skills Must be able to meet the technological and confidentiality requirements of the role (i.e., private and quiet space, Internet connectivity, etc.)Nice-to-haveAbility to effectively manage changeProven disability claims experience, ideally in Group Disability ClaimsWhat's in it for you?We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper.
