Job Summary
Well established organization requires a dedicated and skilled Field Service Technician to join thier team. This role will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing equipment at customer sites in the Ottawa and Gattineau Region. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills and a customer-focused attitude, ensuring that our clients receive the highest level of service.
Duties
- Perform on-site installations and repairs of equipment according to company standards.
- Conduct routine maintenance checks to ensure optimal performance of equipment.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose technical issues, providing effective solutions in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate records of service performed and parts used during each visit.
- Communicate effectively with customers to understand their needs and provide exceptional service.
- Collaborate with team members to improve processes and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Must be able to problem diagnosis of mechanical, electrical, electrnoic, plumbing and gas fueld equipment.
- Assist others in equipment installation or performing major reparis,
- Handle service and preventative maintenance contracts and do product demonstration and training.
- Must be available to work overtime if needed.
Job Qualifications and Requirements:
High school graduate (minimum)
College graduate of a Mechanical - Electrical - Electronic course
Must have proven Mechanical and electrical aptitude
3 - 5 years experience in technical service related work
Bilingual English and French both verbal and written
Valid Drivers LIcense with reasonably clear abstract.
Must possess a valid provincial 'gas fitters licence'
In Ontario, must have the Certificate of Qualification of Gas Technician (G-2) and or be willing to get certified as part of the job offer. Extra compensation will be provided once license is obtained.
Must have a valid passport in order to travel to the US for training

Marine Field Service Electronics Technician

Job duties and responsibilities:
- Install, repair, and maintain navigation, communication, and marine automation equipment on vessels.
- Troubleshoot and service PLC-based systems, sensors, alarms, engine monitoring, and other automation-related systems.
- Load and update manufacturers’ software, back up computers, and retrieve data from onboard systems.
- Use knowledge of electronic theory, marine systems, and control circuitry to resolve complex technical problems.
- Inspect, adjust, align, replace, or repair electronic and automation equipment, assemblies, and components using equipment manuals, schematics, soldering tools, hand/power tools, and electronic test instruments.
- Accurately complete company service reports and related documentation.
- Work independently under limited supervision, managing time and priorities efficiently while onboard vessels.
Requirements:
- Completion of a two- or three-year college program in electrical or electronics engineering technology, computer engineering technology, or an equivalent. Possession of higher education is a plus.
- Must have 24-36 months of experience working as a Maritime Field Service Technician either in the commercial industry, fishing industry, the Canadian Coast Guard or the Canadian Navy.
- Computer networking knowledge (Ethernet, serial communications protocols).
- Knowledge of marine navigation equipment including but not limited to radars, gyrocompasses, autopilots, ECDIS, GMDSS, etc.
- Strong knowledge of electronics theory and application.
- Basic AC/DC electrical theory.
- Ability to use DVM, oscilloscope, and other test equipment.
- Interpersonal and communication skills.
- Be physically fit. Work environment often requires lifting equipment weighing up to 50lbs, climbing ladders and masts, working at heights and being exposed to unpredictable weather conditions.
- Fluent in English (spoken & written). Working knowledge of the French language is a plus.
- Hold valid passport and driver’s license.
- Authorized to work in Canada.
- Dependable and willing to work a flexible schedule including overtime.
- Some travel required to job locations and training courses.
Employment conditions :
- Full time position based on 37.5hrs per week or regular time. Candidate must be willing to work overtime and on weekends when necessary.
- Annual base salary range is between $65,000 and 75,000 CAD, commensurate with technician’s experience and capabilities.
- Overtime work is required and is paid at 1.5x base hourly wage.
- Alliance Nav will assume legal and administrative costs relating to immigration application for successful candidates and their families.
- Following three months of service, you will be entitled to Group Health, Life, and Disability Insurance in accordance with Company policy. This plan is optional and is paid at 70% by the company and 30% by the employee.
- You will also be entitled to a three-week vacation.
Employment location(s):
- Candidate will be based in St. Catharines, Ontario but will be required to travel across various ports along the Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway to attend client vessels.
